In search of Jerry Warren
Update on Jerry Warren...
He was found in the 1940 Census!
Now what...when did he die and where?
He was married to a Katie King and had several daughters. After her death he married Lizzie Royal. Lizzie died in 1936 and I have not been able to find what happened to Jerry Warren. No one alive have been able to tell me anything. Everything has been very vague
It is like Jerry Warren just vanished. But I did get a clue tonight (September 8, 2011) after talking with a great granddaughter that after his last wife died, he lived with his children.
Another disappointing visit to the county courthouse on Friday, January 20, 2012, did not yield me what I was looking. Instead it left me asking how can a 54 year old man not know at least his mother's name. Father's name yes that is believable, but mother.
On his marriage certificate written in the space for his father and mother was "not known." And he had no idea if they were living or dead.
This takes me back to how the cruelty of slavery pulled families apart. Jerry appears to have been born at the end of slavery, which makes you wonder if he was taken from his mother as a baby. So many questions now and no one on earth can answer them at least I haven't found a living soul.
Hopefully, when I find his death certificate a name of his mother will be recorded by one of his daughters or grandchildren.
The marriage license for Jerry Warren and Lizzie Royal show that the Rev. A. B. Troublefield married them at the home of Lizzie's mother.
